ENGL 287 - Studies in Contemporary Multiethnic U.S. Literature

3 Credit Hours
Study of multiethnic U.S. literature with a particular emphasis on modern and contemporary U.S. writers. By examining a variety of texts by writers from diverse backgrounds, students will trace the ways in which US writers have represented race and ethnicity in its intersections with gender, sexual orientation, language, class, and citizenship status in literature. Students may take the course number up to three times and concurrently as allowed for with each independent course description. When the specific course is not allowed for repeat credit, such will be indicated in the description.

Prerequisite(s): ENGL 101  or CRWS 101  or equivalent. 

This course will satisfy the core area requirement in literature.
