Healthcare Management - M.S.

The Master of Science in Healthcare Management degree prepares students to assume leadership roles within healthcare organizations.
This degree program is offered in a blended format, with some courses online and some offered on campus. Students can complete the program in as little as one calendar year, but may also work at a slower pace if preferred.
Degree Requirements:
The program will be 30 credit hours / 10 courses. This will consist of five courses from Brennan’s Graduate Business Core and five specialized courses.
The structure of the degree is as follows:
Program Pre-requisites
Depending on course selections, students may need to satisfy pre-requisite requirements.
Students can meet these requirement in one of two ways:
- Undergraduate coursework - students receiving a grade of B or better in an equivalent undergraduate course are assumed to have met the pre-requisites.
- Brennan Foundations -Students can complete these 0 CH courses, at no cost, throughout their program. If a student has not met a course pre-requisite through undergraduate coursework, the online, self-paced foundation must be completed prior to the start of any course that requires a pre-requisite.
The Brennan Foundations are:
ECON 501 , MGMT 502 , ACCT 503 , QUAN 504 , BLAW 505 , and FIN 506 .

Specialized Courses in Healthcare Management
Fast-Track Graduate Pathway
The Fast-Track Graduate Pathway offers undergraduate students at Dominican University an expedited path toward the Master of Science in Healthcare Management program (MSHCM). The Pathway allows students with Junior standing or higher and who meet the eligibility requirements to take select graduate-level courses while completing course requirements for their undergraduate major. The first step towards the expedited track is to apply for conditional admission into the MSHCM program. If conditionally admitted, students may register for up to six (6) semester hours of graduate-level courses (typically, one course during the fall semester and one during the spring semester) toward the MSHCM degree. Students must receive registration clearance from their academic advisor before registering for graduate courses. The Brennan School of Business recommends that undergraduate students take these six courses: Eligible undergraduate students may choose up to two (2) graduate courses from the following list depending on the successful completion of the corresponding prerequisite course in red above: - MGMT 602 Leading People and Organizations (Offered FA, SP, and Summer) ➡ MGMT 301 prerequisite
- ACCT 604 Accounting for Managers (Offered FA, SP, and Summer) ➡ ACCT 101 prerequisite
- FIN 605 Financial Management t (Offered FA, SP, and Summer) ➡ FIN 301 prerequisite
- MGMT 607 Management Information Systems (Offered FA, SP, and Summer) ➡ QUAN 201 prerequisite
- BETH 608 Business, Ethics and Society (Offered FA, SP, and Summer)
- MGMT 609 Operations Management for Competitiveness (Offered FA, SP, and Summer) ➡ QUAN 201 prerequisite
For students who are interested in the MBA Pathway but have not taken the recommended prerequisite courses, the 0-credit foundation courses offered by the Brennan School of Business may be taken during the summer term before your senior year as a substitute. The foundation courses can be taken at your own pace, online, and at no tuition cost (university fees may apply): Continuing students will be granted full admission into the MSHCM program after the Bachelor’s degree is conferred.
