The American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree program is designed to provide a sound conceptual basis for developing leadership-oriented careers and, at the same time, provide the educational foundations for lifelong professional development. The 36 semester hour curriculum is composed of a range of courses to prepare students for professional responsibilities in a broad spectrum of libraries, media and information centers, and consultancies.
Degree Requirements:
- Complete 36 semester hours of graduate credit, including:

Required Courses
Completion of the first three required core courses during the first nine hours of enrollment is highly recommended: Electives
Complete 18 additional semester hours, chosen from among remaining LIS courses numbered below LIS 900. Requirements for All Graduate Degrees
- Maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Complete the degree within six years.
- Submit an application for graduation to the Office of the Registrar by the filing deadline for the semester when requirements will be completed.
