NURS 411 - Survey of Professional Nursing

2 Credit Hours
Semesters Offered FallThis 8‑week, 2‑credit elective introduces students to a broad range of nursing specialties, including geriatric care, advanced medical‑surgical nursing, emergency and perioperative nursing, informatics, holistic practice, genomics, and nursing ethics and law. Designed to expand students’ understanding of diverse roles within contemporary healthcare systems, the course emphasizes interdisciplinary communication, patient‑ and family‑centered care, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and infection prevention. Through a multidisciplinary educational approach, students gain foundational insight into multiple areas of practice and develop the professional awareness needed to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care across the lifespan. This exposure equips students with a clearer understanding of potential career pathways and prepares them for success in a variety of clinical environments.
