This course explores the conceptual foundations of mathematics essential for effective elementary instruction. Topics include problem-solving techniques, numeration systems, number theory, set theory, measurement concepts, geometric reasoning, and applications of geometry and conic sections. Emphasizing inquiry-based methods and best practices, the course provides a rigorous foundation for teaching mathematics at the K-8 level. Designed for pre-service teachers, it integrates theoretical understanding with practical strategies to enhance mathematical instruction. Prerequisite: MATH 130
