CRIM 406 - Theories of Crime Control

3 Credit Hours
An in-depth analysis of the roots of crime and strategies for preventing and intervening in criminal activity. The course will examine legislation, law enforcement, courts, prisons, environmental design, and restorative practices, as well as building analysis of crime prevention, crime control, and crisis intervention efforts taking place outside of law enforcement. The course will include step-by-step construction of an extensive paper proposing an evidence-based crime control strategy. Students are encouraged to apply to present their work at the spring Scholarship and Ideas Expo.

Prerequisite(s): SOC 110 , either CRIM 255  or CRIM 265 , and senior standing or consent of instructor.

This course will satisfy the core requirement in advanced CRWS.
