LIS 783 - Digital Humanities 3 hours The Digital Humanities is an interdisciplinary academic field that combines the application of computational resources, tools, and methods with the traditional humanities fields such as literature, history, and philosophy. Libraries have been instrumental in the development of the digital humanities by providing the underlying data, access to tools, and technical support for researchers. In this introductory course, students will explore the history, theory, and practice of digital humanities. Students will work with various tools for text mining and entity extraction, text encoding, social network analysis, topic modeling, and creative visualization.
