POSC 254 - Religion and World Politics

3 hours
What are the political implications of the frequent and intense interactions between individuals and groups who orient around religion differently? To answer this question, this course will study interfaith political dynamics at the international, national, and individual levels of analysis. This course will make use of classic works, such as Huntington’s Clash of Civilizations and Putnam’s Bowling Alone, to discuss the potential political outcomes surrounding religious diversity. Lastly, this course is designed to rely heavily on in-class discussion and debate by students as they try to achieve a better understanding of religious plurality.
