CAS 208 - Rhetoric and Popular Culture 3 hours This course uses a rhetorical lens to examine the impact popular cultural texts-including everything from film and television to the Internet and comic books-have on our daily lives. That is, rather than assuming popular culture is “merely entertainment” this course examines how these “texts” act to persuade and influence us by studying theoretical bases for the study of popular culture through a rhetorical lens and teaching skills for how to critically engage with that which surrounds us every day.
