LIS 972 - Theoretical Lenses 3 hours A theory has been defined as: “A set of interrelated constructs (concepts), definitions, and propositions that present a systematic view of phenomena by specifying relations among variables, with the purpose of explaining and predicting phenomena.” (Kerlinger and Lee, 2000: 9) In this course we will examine the major theoretical frameworks that can be applied to research in the field of LIS, including, but not limited to, sociopolitical, philosophical, literary, and psychological theories.
