Mediation and Conflict Resolution - M.A.

The Master of Arts in Mediation and Conflict Resolution degree is offered in a convenient low-residency format. Students will complete two five-day intensive courses on campus, preferably a year apart, with the remaining courses completed online. This provides the best of both worlds: face-to-face interaction with faculty and peers with the flexibility and convenience of online learning.

Students may pursue a graduate certificate in Conflict Resolution (12 hours) alone, or pursue the degree after completion of the certificate.

An MMCR student coming back to earn a MTIL degree can use a maximum of two MMCR courses as electives for the second degree, and therefore will have to take additional courses to complete their electives (usually 2).

Similarly, up to two successfully completed graduate courses offered by other Dominican University academic units, regardless of degree earned, may be used for electives, with the approval of the program coordinator. A maximum of 2 graduate courses can be used in transfer from another institution for electives in the MMCR program and none can be transferred when earning an MMCR certificate.

Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in any subject from a regionally-accredited college or university, or international equivalent
At least three years of full-time work experience or a waiver from the college dean
Completed application, including:
- official transcripts from previous institutions
- 1-2 page statement of purpose explaining how the degree will fit in with the applicant’s personal and professional goals
- Two letters of recommendation are required only if the applicant’s GPA is under 3.25.
- GRE scores are not required, but may be submitted to strengthen a candidate’s application

Students are encouraged to explore the Trauma-Informed Leadership - M.A. courses as approved electives.
