The finance major prepares students to guide individuals, corporations, and organization through financial struggles and uncertainty. Careers in finance can be both fun and beneficial. Like accounting and economics, the backbone of finance is numbers and mathematics; however, successful finance majors tend to be creative problem-solvers who find innovative solutions for individuals and corporations. It is much more than math! Finance offers plenty of career options including investment banking, management consulting, financial planning, risk management, data analytics, financial analysis and more. The Brennan School of Business finance major helps aspiring managers prepare for positions of leadership via coursework emphasizing corporate governance, international capital markets, and investment analysis. Successful students interested seeking to gain a competitive edge in their careers may elect to sit for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam or the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam. Students selecting this career path should work closely with their academic advisor to select appropriate major coursework.

A minimum of one half the courses in the major must be completed at Dominican. † Credit-hour requirements reflect the number of credits earned by students who complete all major requirements at Dominican University. These totals may be reduced due to waivers granted transfer students for certain courses or transfer-hour totals. |
