The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) provides an educationally robust plan of study that makes students eligible to sit for and prepares students to pass the NCLEX-RN examination and obtain licensure to practice as a registered professional nurse. The program prepares the nurse generalist to practice in a variety of settings, sensitive to culturally diverse understandings of illness, health, and wellness. The graduate of the BSN program is a liberally educated individual who is committed to using her or his talents to make a positive contribution to the world, and has acquired the knowledge and skills to provide humanistic nursing practice in multiple settings as well as a foundation for advanced study in nursing. Students admitted to the program are expected to follow the specific policies and procedures described in the Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing Student Handbook in addition to the guidelines in this Bulletin.

Required Prerequisite Coursework


The following courses-which are required for the BSN degree-must be successfully completed prior to admission to the BSN program. By application deadline, a student must have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and have completed successfully the following with a grade of B- or higher*. Courses listed with ** require a C or above. Please refer to the Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing Student Handbook for specific policies and procedures.
