Bachelor of Applied Science in Informatics


General requirements for the Bachelor of Applied Science program:

Each student entering the program must have earned:

1.      An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree from an accredited institution; and

2.      A minimum 2.75 grade point average

 

Total Credit Requirement:                          

A total of at least 124 semester hours of credit, including applicable transferable credit earned, is required for graduation. The total must fulfill the following specifications: 1. Foundation and modified Area Studies/Seminar coursework requirements - either previously completed meeting articulation requirements OR to be completed at Dominican University  2. Major specific coursework  3. Completion of at least 60 credit hours of coursework from Dominican University.

Core Requirements for BAS Degree: Students must meet the following undergraduate Core requirements as specified below. 

Foundation Requirements


ENGL 102  - Composition II: Writing as a way of Knowing or equivalent (3 credit hours)

MATH 130  - College Algebra or equivalent (3 credit hours)

Theology elective (3 credit hours)

Modified Area Studies and Seminar Requirements (21 credit hours)


LAS 400 level - Senior Seminar (3 credit hours)

Social and Behavioral Science coursework (6 credit hours)

Life Science coursework (3 credit hours)

Physical Science coursework (3 credit hours)

Humanities/Fine Arts coursework (6 credit hours)

Courses completed for the Core requirements can be completed either using coursework from Dominican University or utilizing coursework taken at a community college that participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) General Education Curriculum Core (GECC). 

The BAS degree will recognize and accept an AAS degree from an accredited institution.  While the AAS degree will be accepted as credit hours toward the BAS degree (maximum of 64 hours), individual transcripts will be evaluated to determine what transfer coursework will count towards the major and Core coursework.
