5-Year BA/MSW

Majors interested in becoming a social worker have the option of applying for the combined Dominican BA-MSW leading to completion of a Master of Social Work degree in approximately one year after obtaining their Bachelor of Arts degree. Students may apply the six credits for SWK 513 - Human Behavior in The Social Environment  and SWK 514 - History of Social Work & Social Welfare  toward the elective credits for the major or double major, and up to 18 hours of other social work course credit as general electives toward the 124 needed for the undergraduate degree toward the MSW with departmental approval. Acceptance into the School of Social Work is contingent upon completion of all undergraduate requirements in the major and an overall grade point average of 3.25. Students who are interested in the 5-year BA/MSW should meet with the department chair of sociology and criminology soon after they declare their major, before they achieve junior standing.
