Dominican University’s Accelerated Bachelor in Professional Studies, major in Human Services & Master in Social Work program is for students who want to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. Graduates would be qualified as masters-level social workers. Certain MSW courses count toward the BPS and MSW degrees, which reduces overall completion time. The College of Applied Social Sciences Continuing Studies program and School of Social Work jointly sponsor this degree program.
Requirements for Admission to Accelerated Degree Program:
- Acceptance into the BPS program.
- Completion of at least 60-69 credits (including transfer credits) at the time of application and taking MSW courses. Note: In addition to the 30 MSW credits indicated below, accelerated BPS/MSW students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours toward their BPS at Dominican University.
- A cumulative grade point average of 3.25.
- If a student has completed 30 credits at Dominican, only the Dominican GPA will be used to determine eligibility under this criterion.
- If a student has completed fewer than 30 credits at Dominican, the student’s cumulative GPA from all institutions attended will be used to determine eligibility under this criterion.
- Students must maintain a 3.25 GPA after admission to the program.
- Acceptance into the Accelerated degree program does not guarantee admission into the MSW degree program.

Students in this program will be able to count 30 MSW credit hours toward both their BPS and MSW. The credit hour benefit is in the completion of their bachelor’s degree as they will complete all 60 credit hours required for the MSW. The cost benefit is that the 30 credit hours required to complete the foundation level of the MSW are included at their BPS tuition rate.
