Special Education Minor (18 credit hours)
This minor is designed for students interested in a Learning Behavior Specialist I, State of Illinois endorsement on their Professional Educator License. Additionally, it is designed for students majoring in related fields who seek further knowledge and skills in working with individuals with disabilities.
Required Courses for the Special Education minor with entitlement to an LBSI endorsement for those pursuing a Professional Educator License through the Elementary major or a Secondary Education program:

SEDU 356 Collaboration and Adaptation in General Education Settings
SEDU 359 Managing Challenging Behaviors
SEDU 370 Planning and Assessment in Special Education
SEDU 374 Curriculum and Methods for Students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities
SEDU 376 Academic Methods for Elementary and Middle Level Students with Disabilities

Declaration of Minor: As with any other minor, the student interested in pursuing the undergraduate special education minor would take the initiative to complete the Declaration of Minor Form.
The undergraduate special education advisor would advise students who are pursuing the minor.
