EDUC 378 - Methods and Materials for Teaching Health and Physical Education in the Elementary Classroom

This course focuses on the methods for teaching physical education and health in the elementary classroom. Specific learning experiences related to fundamental motor skills, health-related physical fitness, and wellness will be emphasized. Strategies to integrate these critical skills into content areas and disciplines are also explored. Hands-on experience in a physical education environment is paramount to understanding the role of the physical educator in the field experience. Clinically-based course taught on-site in a partner elementary school. 8 hours of fieldwork required.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Teacher Education Program; junior standing or above.
