HNSM 265 - Rights, Responsibilities, and Living Together3 hours This seminar considers the foundational shared text of Plato’s Republic in light of a major tenet of Catholic social teaching, rights and responsibilities, and how the rights of an individual balance with one’s responsibility to the common good of society. The seminar will examine a range of issues from modern political tensions to everyday problems of the average college sophomore. The reading material will lead students to evaluate how we make decisions as individuals and interact with families, faith communities, neighbors, and strangers.
