CHEM 255 - Accelerated Organic Chemistry

One semester, four credit course that provides the necessary organic chemistry concepts and methods to prepare the student for biochemistry. Topics include: covalent bonds, molecular structure, spectroscopy, stereochemistry, acid-base chemistry, non-covalent interactions, thermodynamics, kinetics, resonance structures, reaction mechanism, and the reactivity common function groups found in biological systems. No lab component is required. CHEM 253 organic chemistry lab may be taken concurrently with CHEM 255. A student may not receive credit for both CHEM 255 and CHEM 254.

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 121 with a minimum grade of C-.
