FREN 289 - Introduction to French and Francophone Cinema: From Pictures to Pixels 1890 to the Present3 hours This course traces the history of French cinema from the first films produced by the Lumiere brothers to the latest films coming out of France and the larger French-speaking world. (This course is conducted in English.) To receive credit for the French major or minor, students who have taken FREN 202 or the equivalent will register for the 1-credit intensification for reading, writing, and discussion in French.

Prerequisite(s): ENGL 102 .
This course will satisfy the fine arts core area requirement.
