HIST 440 - The American Civil War3 hours This course examines the origins, conduct, and consequences of America’s “Great Civil War” from the national election in 1856 to the disputed national election of 1876 and the end of Reconstruction in 1877. Students will analyze domestic and international political themes and Union and Confederate military policies, operations, and institutions. The course will review the social and economic consequences of the war and peace in the United States.
This course may be applied to the United States history concentration.
Prerequisite(s): One college history course. This course will not satisfy the history core area requirement.
