BWS 240 - Comparative Law: American & African Traditional Law 3 Credit Hours This course explores the law governing the relation between laws rooted primarily in the common law tradition and African customary law. Emphasis will be placed on both of their philosophical foundations, historical foundation of U.S laws, methods, and purposes of comparative jurisprudence, pluralism in legal orders, English common law, constitutionalism, mediation and consensus-building in Africa, the rule of law and individual rights as exemplified in Brown V. Board of Education (1954).
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in Satisfies BWS, Multiculture, MVT, and SJS
