CRWS 105 - Critical Reading, Writing, and Speaking

4 Credit Hours

Welcome to CRWS 105!  This class builds students’ knowledge and foundational scholarly skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and information literacy that are essential throughout the core and majors. Each themed section encourages students to consider the cultural, civic and/or social justice contexts of these interwoven skill-sets. In that spirit of our Dominican mission and pursuit of truth, students not only become more sensitive to the systems around them but learn to effectively communicate within them in order to create a more just and humane world.

CRWS 105, along with an advanced CRWS course taken subsequently in a discipline of the student’s choice, grounds our writing and speaking through the curriculum series. CRWS 105 serves as our equivalent to English 101: Composition I. May not be taken on a Satisfactory/Fail basis; a student must receive a grade of C- or higher.
