MATI 611 - Leadership Ethics and Social Responsibility

3 Credit Hours

This course provides learners the opportunity to improve their ability and knowledge of ethics and social responsibility in everyday settings to leadership roles. Social responsibility is applicable to corporate businesses, but it is also relevant to individuals, civic organizations, and the communities in which they reside.  Large and small companies, non-profits, civic organizations and governmental agencies alike can do their part to make our society more sustainable and civic minded.

As professionals, ethical dilemmas surface in our day-to-day and often times we do what needs to get done even if it does not feel right. What if doing something unethical puts you and your organization at risk? Although ethical and social responsibility is not new, some organizations and companies are seeing the value in creating a positive internal culture within and creating strategic goals that align with diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and sustainability. By the end of this course, learners will explore and evaluate ethical decision-making models from various perspectives, understand the framework for corporate/civic/non-profit social responsibility and apply this knowledge in everyday settings.
