SOC 240 - Self and Society

4 Credit Hours
An examination of the social science theories and paradigms that address how human action and human actors are influenced by the actual, imagined, or implied presence of others. This course emphasizes sociological social psychology and will focus on the social construction of self and the social context of everyday behavior. Themes could include scholarship on: the three faces of sociological social psychology, development of the social self, socialization throughout the life course, deviance and social control, prejudice, discrimination and racism, mental health, etc. sociology
