CAS 346 - Free Speech and Communication Law 3 Credit Hours This course examines the centrality of free speech and the First Amendment for American democracy. Students will explore their rights, responsibilities, and legal limitations in contemporary America. Students also will learn the nuts and bolts of the law as it affects the rights of privacy, intellectual property (copyright), reputation (defamation), freedom of information, and other key issues.
Previously numbered as CAS 293
Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing, admission to the honors program, or consent of instructor.
May not be taken by students who have successfully completed CAS 293.
