CASS 917 - Special Topics in Applied Social Justice: Entrepreneurship for Social Justice Change

3 Credit Hours
This PhD level course delves into the dynamic relationship between social justice and entrepreneurship, exploring how entrepreneurial endeavors can serve as vehicles for positive social change while also considering the systemic challenges and inequalities inherent in the entrepreneurial landscape. The course content is designed to engage and expose students to case studies, subject matter experts, practical applications, theoretical methods and frameworks, relevant literature, and original research projects. These elements aim to advance both scholarly understanding and practical applications in this vital intersection, analyzing the role of entrepreneurship in addressing systemic inequalities and advancing social justice agendas. The course outline is based on three primary areas: foundations of social justice and entrepreneurship, process of creating inclusive environments, and the role of innovation and profits in entrepreneurship.
