CHEM 322 - Nanoscience and Nanotechnology 3 Credit Hours 1 Lab Hours Nanotechnology has become one the most emerging field of science and engineering in recent years with immense contribution in many areas of chemistry, physics, biological sciences, materials science, computer science and engineering. Nanotechnology includes materials with nanoscale dimensions and their diverse field of applications. This course is designed to introduce the concepts of nanotechnology highlighting the properties, synthesis and characterization of a variety of nanomaterials. Students will gain hands-on experience in laboratory scale synthesis of inorganic nanomaterials along with characterization techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence spectroscopy, and UV-vis spectroscopy.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 121 with a minimum grade of C-.
