HNEI 224 - Where Cultures Collide: The Questioning of the Other in the New World 3 Credit Hours This cross-disciplinary Honors course will focus on the the16th century - a pivotal moment in which the European impulse to create nation states found a Christian partner. This framework of study results in a narrative of “otherness” which impacted populations at home and abroad and helped to shape the conception of the “new world.” Three entry points will diversify point of view and voice of this course: history, theology, and literature. Works of art will build and integrate multiple academic and cultural perspectives. Specialists outside of the U.S. will interact with this course through Zoom during class meetings.
Prerequisite(s): Honors program students only.
