THEO 358 - Buddhist-Christian Dialogue 3 Credit Hours Religions have always interacted with each other, but in modern times, explicit and intentional dialogue and cooperation has become more widespread and sustained. This course explores some key reasons for, approaches to, issues within, and outcomes of 20th and 21st century Buddhist-Christian interchange and reflection. Emphasis will be on Catholic Christianity and a variety of Buddhist traditions. Different types of dialogue will be studied, including those involving comparisons of key religious and theological ideas, sharing of spiritual practices, and collaborations intended to build more just societies through cooperative social engagement.
Prerequisite(s): Honors program only or consent of department.
