EDU 655 - Language and Culture 3 Credit Hours The candidate understands the diverse characteristics and abilities of each ELL student and how individuals develop and learn within the context of their social, economic, cultural, linguistic, historical and academic experiences. The candidate uses these experiences to create instructional opportunities that maximize ELL student learning as well as to better understand the communities outside of the school. Issues related to diversity, inclusion, equity and equality, tolerance and cultural competency will be addressed extensively. A deeper analysis of an educator’s implicit biases, misconceptions and prejudices will be examined in relation to student expectations and achievement.
