SWK 510 - Social Work Practice with Individuals & Families

3 Credit Hours
This course is the first in a three-part sequence. This course introduces students to the generalist practice foundation of social work practice for work with individuals. Students will learn beginning-level social work skills for developing professional relationships, engaging system, and assessing problems as they relate to attributes of the client and the client’s environment. The course takes a human rights approach to teach basic practice skills; students are exposed simultaneously to the theory, research, trauma-informed practice and necessary skills required to work with clients and client systems.
