PHIL 231 - Environmental Ethics 3 Credit Hours This course will examine the relationships and responsibilities of humans to nature and the surrounding environment. We will ask such questions as: Do we have environmental responsibilities to other humans, animals, the biosphere itself? Discussion will include, but will not be limited to, such concepts as sustainability, environmental justice, animal rights, the land ethic, deep ecology, ecofeminism, political environmentalism, and rethinking the good life.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in philosophy or social justice and sustainability.
This course will satisfy the core requirement in meaning, value, and truth.
