CAS 238 - Games and Game Design 3 Credit Hours From social games and virtual worlds to board games and card games, games are increasingly being used for purposes other than entertainment. But what has to be considered to design a game for entertainment versus for education? This blended course will tackle these questions by focusing on how to design games. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own ideas for a game. In online readings and discussions, students will explore the theories and concepts behind games and game design, such as game mechanics and game motives. In weekly class meetings, students will play and discuss various types of gaming media.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in fine arts or humanities and arts.
