SOC 245 - Contemporary Social Problems 3 Credit Hours An examination of the major problems confronting societies in the contemporary world. Social problems to be explored include institutionalized discrimination (sexism, racism, ageism), ecology (population, energy), and/or economy (poverty, development). Consideration will be given to the nature and forms of specific social problems as well as the social costs and consequences of their existence.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social sciences or science literacy.
