SOC 210 - Sociology of the Family 3 Credit Hours An examination of the institution of family in society with an emphasis on how race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality, and class shape the diversity of family experiences. This course will address the following issues: Is there a singular definition of family? What purposes do families serve in society? What social, political, cultural, economic, and legal forces affect the family? How and why is the family changing over time?
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social justice and sustainability.
