HIST 216 - Foundations of Islamic Civilization to 1456 3 Credit Hours This course introduces students to the rise and early development of Islam from its birth in seventh-century Arabia to the capture of Constantinople in the 1450’s. Topics include pre-Islamic Arabia, the life and time of prophet Muhammad, the major Islamic beliefs and practices, Islamic dynasties, and early Muslim conquests. This course may be applied to the global history concentration.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in history or humanities and arts.
This course will satisfy the core requirement in multicultural studies.
