LAS 424 - Wisdom for a Happy and Balanced Life: Dinner with Aristotle and Friends 3 Credit Hours Preparing for life after college? You know that you will have many responsibilities - career, family, community. But you also want good health, fun, enjoyment, and relaxation. How can you successfully juggle all of this? How do you meet your responsibilities while still tending to your personal needs and wants? This course wrestles with these questions and tries to develop answers. We will invite experts on these issues to join us for a sumptuous dinner. As an appetizer, we will learn about Laozi who was a founder of the religion known as Taoism. He has a lot to say about balance - navigating the yin and the yang, chaos and order. Our main course will be conversations with Aristotle. He will give us a taste of the Good Life and how we can find it by living ethically and with balance. During dessert we will talk with Thomas Aquinas, a significant Catholic theologian who has a lot of sweet ideas to offer us. We will have other guests at our dinner table who will share their experiences and advice! This is your official invite to feast on the wisdom of the ages, preparing you for a life of virtue, happiness and health.
