BMS 340 - Principles of Drug Action 3 Credit Hours The use of medications to prevent and treat disease in humans and animals (i.e. drug therapy) plays a central role in most medical practices. Therefore, this course covers the scientific principles constituting the design, action, and delivery of drugs for therapeutic purposes and in doing so exposes students to three main branches of the pharmaceutical sciences (i.e. medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmaceutics). In addition, students will explore key aspects of the drug approval & regulatory process, as well as general approaches to pharmacotherapy.
Prerequisite(s): BMS students or permission of program.
