LAS 432 - The Ethical Superhero 3 Credit Hours This course explores the moral and ethical nature of superheroes. By employing Aristotle’s discussion for what leads to living a good life, the students explore whether or not the superheroes they know actually live such a life and should serve as role models for others-or whether or not there are some moral questions that need to be dealt with when considering the relationship of the superhero to society. The course will utilize various superhero texts, from Watchmen to Superman: Red Son, to explore the nature of the ethical and moral superhero, and students will conduct an in-depth analysis on one superhero in an effort to answer the question of the course: what does it mean to lead a good life?
Prerequisite(s): Senior standing.
