LIS 794 - Foundations of Health Informatics 3 Credit Hours Health Informatics is the application of technology to healthcare delivery, population and public health, community-based clinical research, and the potential for big data and analytics to transform the field. Within a framework of theory and practice, students will explore the critical issues and challenges within the field including interoperability, standardization, safety, and risks associated with the implementation of the electronic health record for individual patients as well as collective big data that can be used for population health management.
