SWK 610 - Advanced Generalist Practice I:Internventions 3 Credit Hours This is the first advanced level practice course which builds upon generalist practice courses. Students will learn advanced-level social work skills to apply interventions, treatment and evaluations with individuals, families and groups. The course emphasizes a strengths-based and human rights approach, which focuses on those who are most marginalized, excluded or discriminated against and simultaneously discusses theory, research, trauma-informed practice and necessary skills required to apply principles of evidence-based practice. Modules on Family Therapy; Motivational Interviewing; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy are covered. Students will apply and integrate course content to their selected track.
Prerequisite(s): All 500 level social work courses.
