CRIM 242 - Youth and the Juvenile System 3 Credit Hours An examination of how youth become involved in the punishment system -especially social-structural factors such as poverty, racism, inequality, and exposure to violence- and what happens to them once they get there. Explores the social construction of childhood and adolescence, and analyzes the social,historical,and legal contexts within which youth become involved in the punishment system.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social sciences.
