ENGL 288 - Asian American Literature 3 Credit Hours This class is an introduction to Asian American literature and may include a focus on Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipinx, Indian, and Southeast Asian American experiences. We will discuss the development of Asian American literature in relation to Asian immigration to the US from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century. Writers studied may include Maxine Hong Kingston, Amy Tan, Jhumpa Lahiri, Chang-rae Lee, Craig Santos Perez, Viet Nguyen, John Okada, Jessica Hagedorn, and David Henry Hwang.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 101 or CRWS 101 or equivalent.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in literature.
This course will satisfy the core requirement in multicultural studies.
