CAS 344 - Health Literacy and Communication 3 Credit Hours
The work in this course will explore the role of communication in matters of health literacy, acquaint students with a broad understanding of health literacy in the United States, and examine the lived experiences of patients, families, and providers through theoretical constructs from the discipline of communication. This class focuses on applying health literacy principles to real life health phenomenon, in clinical encounters, as well as in community and public health contexts with an emphasis on underserved and vulnerable populations.
