SPAN 340 - A History of Violence: Latin American Political Expression in Literature and Film 3 Credit Hours This course is interdisciplinary and is taught in collaboration with the Department of Political Science. Literary texts and other forms of cultural production will serve as the point of departure to consider pressing political concerns in Latin America such as the role of military regimes, the transition to neoliberal democracies, United States interventions, inequality in its many forms, and migration.
Prerequisite(s): SPAN 245 or SPAN 246 ; consent of instructor.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in literature.
