ENGL 244 - Self-Portraits: Representations of the Self in Poetry, Fiction, and Drama 3 Credit Hours Writers of poetry, fiction, and drama strive, even as they attend to the formal requirements of their craft, to make the imaginary worlds they create ring true to the emotional currents and patterns that reside deep in their minds. In this course, we’ll explore the fruitful tension between writers’ work and writers’ lives by examining poems, short stories, and plays in the context of selected biographical materials.
Prerequisite(s): ENGL 101 or CRWS 101 or equivalent.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in literature.
