POSC 215 - American Political Thought I

3 Credit Hours
This version of the American Political Thought offerings will focus on the political and social debate surrounding various American challenges. It will range from slavery and African-American role in the American experience, to immigration and new members joining the society, to the role of revolution, to whether civil disobedience is a justified action or a simple violation of the law. Utilizing political documents and debates on these issues and philosophical approaches including Locke, Douglas, Washington, DuBois, and Malcolm X, and others the course will explore the continuing challenges of a democracy. The American regime, politics and character as seen from a theoretical point of view.

This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social sciences.

This course will satisfy the core requirement in multicultural studies.
