THEO 113 - Biblical and Early Christian Theology 3 Credit Hours This course examines the development of the biblical canon and key theological themes and ideas in early Christianity. Students will be introduced to topics including, but not limited to: methods of biblical interpretation; key theories about the development of biblical traditions in the Hebrew Bible and Christian Scriptures; the diversity of faith perspectives in early Christian communities; the implications of Christianity’s transformation from persecuted sect to Imperial religion, and the processes of adaptation as the gospel encountered cultures beyond the Greco-Roman world up to c. 500 CE.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in theology.
